Nuclear Engineering Facts:

In 2007 the US had 107 nuclear energy reactors on the grid. The reactors generated 806 net TWh of electricity, with the energy composing of only 19.4% of the total energy used.

The University of Utah's Research & Test reactor is one of 33 in the country.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission currently has 17 applications for a combined license application for new reactors. The reactors would be located throughout the US.

The US Department of Labor lists that in May of 2007 the mean annual wage as $97,130 for Nuclear Engineers working in research, development services, architectural, Federal Executive Branch, consulting and as management in companies & enterprises.

Utah Nuclear Engineering Program (UNEP)

Nuclear Engineering at the University of Utah is once again growing and more opportunities for studies are becoming available. Masters & Doctorial degrees are offered to those with BS degrees in engineering and science related fields. Undergraduate Student's can take selected courses as technical electives and in preparation for nuclear engineering graduate degree programs.
