The 2014 American Nuclear Society (ANS) Student Conference was held at The Pennsylvania State University April 3-6. The Utah Nuclear Engineering Program (UNEP) sent three undergraduate students, Dallon Boyd, Tristalee Williams and Joshua Chidester, to the conference to present their research.
Dallon Boyd gave a podium presentation in the Mathematics and Computation section titled “MCNP5 Modeling and Design of a New Thermal Neutron Box at the University of Utah TRIGA Reactor,”
Tristalee Williams gave a podium presentation in the Detections and Measurements section titled “Python Based Neutron Activation Analysis Pre-Calculator,”
Joshua Chidester presented a poster titled “Investigation of Detector Efficiency by MCNP – Industrial Radiotracer RTD.”
A total of 96 podium presentations and a total of 46 poster presentations were given. With 16 podium presentation awards and 2 poster awards awarded. Tristalee Williams was awarded the the best undergraduate paper and presentation in the Detections and Measurements section.
